Professional Liability Insurance Designed for Coaches — Built by People Who Understand Your Work
APC provides liability insurance and professional membership designed specifically for coaches — including life, wellness, business, and personal development professionals.
Coverage supports how you actually work — in-person, online, and in groups.
Why APC Exists
The coaching profession has grown — and so have the risks
Today’s coaches support individuals, teams, and organizations through meaningful change - helping people gain clarity, navigate challenges, and move forward with confidence. As the profession has evolved, so has the way coaches work - across private sessions, group programs, workshops, and online platforms.
With this growth comes an increasing need for professional standards, clear boundaries, and coverage that reflects the realities of modern coaching.
At the same time, many insurance options available to coaches were originally designed for unrelated professions, often leaving gaps in coverage or creating confusion about what is actually protected.
APC was created to change that.
The Association for Professional Coaches exists to support coaches in protecting their work and practicing with confidence - with liability coverage designed specifically for coaching services, not adapted from other industries.
By aligning protection with how coaches actually work, APC helps practitioners safeguard their practice while maintaining professionalism and trust with the clients they serve.

Supporting the Coaching Profession
From the beginning, our goal has been simple:Â to help professionals protect the work they do for others.
~Founder Lisa Gordon
Building on more than 17 years of experience supporting professional practitioners through EMPA, APC was created to serve the growing coaching profession.
Under the leadership of founder Lisa Gordon, the team that built EMPA brought that same experience and commitment to creating APC for the coaching profession.Â

“APC was created to provide insurance
designed specifically for coaches.”
──────────────────────────
Over the years, our team worked closely with thousands of professionals across the broader wellness and personal development fields. As coaching continued to grow as a profession, we began hearing a similar question from many practitioners: Was there a professional association and insurance program designed specifically for coaches?
At the time, many insurance options available to coaches were adapted from policies created for unrelated professions. Coaching was often treated as a small category within programs built for entirely different industries.
Because many members of our leadership team were already coaches themselves, we understood the realities of coaching practice and the need for coverage designed around the services coaches actually provide.
APC was created to meet that need.
Building on the experience gained through EMPA, APC provides liability insurance and professional membership designed specifically for the coaching profession.
────────────
Today, APC supports coaches across a wide range of specialties, helping practitioners protect their practice and serve clients with confidence.
As the coaching profession continues to grow, APC remains committed to supporting coaches with insurance designed for their work and membership that reflects the standards of a responsible profession.

Lisa Gordon
Founder & CEO
Helping build programs that protect coaches and support the work they do.
Lisa Gordon founded the Association for Professional Coaches (APC) to support and protect professionals dedicated to helping others grow, change, and thrive.
For more than 18 years, Lisa has led organizations that provide specialized insurance and professional resources for practitioners working in personal growth, wellness, and transformational fields. Through her leadership of the Energy Medicine Professional Association (EMPA), she saw firsthand how difficult it could be for professionals to find insurance designed for the work they actually do.
As coaching continued to grow as a profession, many practitioners began asking the same question: Was there a professional association and insurance program created specifically for coaches?
APC was developed to meet that need.
Lisa focuses on building programs that help coaches protect their practices while serving clients with confidence. She believes the work coaches do is meaningful—and that professionals who help others create change deserve strong support and responsible protection.
Lisa lives in San Antonio, Texas with her husband, their three children, and several very opinionated rescue cats.
