Liability Insurance for Business Coaches

Professional Liability protects business coaches against claims alleging that your coaching, professional guidance, recommendations, or other professional services caused financial, professional, or business-related harm.

This includes allegations involving strategy discussions, leadership development, accountability, business goals, professional development, decision support, or other business coaching services.

APC coverage includes up to $2 million each occurrence / $4 million aggregate per member, subject to policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.

General Liability protects business coaches against bodily injury and property damage claims connected to your coaching business.

This includes claims connected to coaching conducted in offices, coworking spaces, corporate locations, rented meeting rooms, workshop venues, conference spaces, and other professional environments.

Occurrence-based coverage is tied to when the covered incident occurs. If a covered incident happens during your active policy period, coverage applies even if the claim is reported after that policy period ends, subject to policy terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions.

This matters for business coaches because concerns involving professional guidance, client expectations, communication, business decisions, or professional outcomes may surface after a coaching engagement has ended. The key date is when the covered incident occurred.

APC business coach insurance starts at $245 per year. Your annual cost depends on the protection level selected and any optional coverage added to your membership.

After you apply, APC reviews your application to confirm that your business coaching services meet the program’s coverage guidelines. Approved applicants typically receive proof of insurance by email within 24 business hours.

If you need a Certificate of Insurance for a client organization, corporate program, office, venue, landlord, event, or other professional requirement, you can request one.

Business coaches are often asked for proof of insurance when working with corporate clients, renting office or meeting space, leading workshops, providing organizational programs, speaking at events, or using shared professional spaces.

After approval, APC provides proof of insurance by email. Professional and Premium Protection members can request unlimited Additional Insureds at no extra fee when a facility, landlord, organization, client, or event host requires one.

APC coverage is underwritten by Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY), rated A++ (Superior) by AM Best.

PHLY’s A++ rating reflects strong financial strength and gives business coaches added confidence in the carrier behind their coverage.

Business Personal Property coverage protects property you use in your coaching business if it is damaged or lost because of a covered event.

Examples include computers, office equipment, presentation equipment, business supplies, coaching tools, workshop materials, and other covered property used in your practice.

Professional and Premium Protection include $10,000 of Business Personal Property coverage with a $500 deductible.

Professional and Premium Protection also include $10,000 of Business Income & Extra Expense coverage for covered losses that interrupt your coaching business.

Client Accident Protection provides coverage if a client, participant, student, or volunteer is injured while participating in your coaching services or activities.

Professional and Premium Protection include up to $25,000 in Accidental Medical Expense per participant, per accident. A $500 deductible applies per covered injury.

Accidental Death, Dismemberment & Paralysis benefits include up to $50,000 per loss, including a $25,000 death benefit, with a $500,000 aggregate per accident, subject to policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.

Assault & Battery coverage provides protection when a third-party claim involves alleged or threatened assault or battery connected to your coaching activities.

This coverage applies to claims for bodily injury, property damage, or personal and advertising injury related to an alleged assault or battery incident.

Coverage includes up to $25,000 per occurrence.

Identity Theft Protection reimburses certain out-of-pocket expenses if you experience identity theft related to your professional activities.

Covered expenses include costs such as notarizing affidavits, certified mailing of documents, loan or credit reapplication fees, and other identity-restoration expenses.

Coverage includes up to $25,000 per policy period for all insureds combined, with no deductible. This benefit covers specified recovery expenses but does not replace stolen money or funds lost through identity theft.

The Cyber Protection Plan provides coverage for cyber and privacy-related risks. It is especially relevant for business coaches who provide virtual coaching, maintain confidential client or company information, communicate electronically, or use online scheduling, payment systems, websites, client portals, CRM systems, and other digital platforms.

This optional add-on includes $100,000 per privacy claim / $250,000 aggregate with a $1,000 deductible.

The Sexual Misconduct & Abuse Protection Plan provides protection for claims alleging sexual misconduct or abuse in connection with your professional coaching services.

This optional add-on includes a $50,000 limit per person abused or molested, including defense costs, and a $100,000 aggregate. Defense costs are inside the limit. No deductible applies.

Professional and Premium Protection already include $10,000 of Business Personal Property coverage. Members can increase the total limit for property used in their business coaching practice.

Covered property can include computers, monitors, office equipment, presentation equipment, business supplies, coaching tools, workshop materials, and other business property used in your practice.

Increase the total Business Personal Property limit to $25,000 for $397.84 or $50,000 for $795.68. Displayed prices are rounded to $398 and $796.

A $500 deductible applies. Any single item valued over $10,000 must be specifically listed on the application.
